The suspension of the normal social habits of those who appreciate decent beer in decent pubs is a great inconvience, but it must be emphasied that this is a real threat to the very existance of our pubs and breweries.

Please do try and find ways of supporting these struggling businesses. Take sensible precautions for the health of yourself and others, always follow the Goverments latest advice. If you decide to drink at home, then consider buying the beer and wine at the local pub or brewery instead of the supermarket. Some pubs are still offering a takeaway service of decent quality cask ale. Every bit of help you can give will be most appreciated. Currently all the breweries in the area are also offering a take away or delivery service of quality local products. If we do not help out now - when normality returns, many pubs, bars, clubs and breweries will have closed never to open again. The only survivors will be the big multi-national companies who may (or may not) have the financial backups to survive.
CAMRA has set up a national website to promote initatives that pubs and breweries are trying to use to survive. CAMRA Pulling Together. Herts & Essex Borders Branch have set up a equivelent local website at Details of Local Brewers, Bars, Clubs etc In Our Branch Area Doing Take Away or Delivery Service This is a free publicity page for the local licenced trade to use to promote their business. If you run a pub, bar, club or brewery then please email us at pub-update@heb-camra.org.uk with details. Please do support them.
CAMRA has also set up a new app for iPhones, and (coming soon) Android smart phones, enabling anybody to search for and order beers/ciders from your local suppliers, as well as national suppliers, for delivery at home. Search in the App Store for 'Brew2You'.
Another way to support your local through these difficult times is through the 'Save Pub Life' promotion by AB InBev. Buy a gift voucher now for use when the pub reopens, and what ever you buy, AB InBev breweries will double the amount the pub gets. Pub gets the cash now. Gift Voucher can be used for anything the pub sells, not just AB InBev products.

Gibberd Garden Beer Festival - This was planned for 20 & 21 June - this will probably have to be cancelled, but we will take a decision on this on May 10, to give us time to arrange at the last minute if it happens. The Gibberd Garden Beer Festival has unfortunately been cancelled for 2020. With the current Covid crisis, it is impossible to run such an event whilst maintaining social distancing in any sort of practical way. It will be back again in June 2021, and we look forward to seeing you all again.
Epping Ongar Railway Beer Festival This was Planned for 17, 18 & 19 July. We are awaiting further information regarding this event, as to whether it will happen of not. Please check back here for updates. With potential issues and difficulties running trains & buses to the event whilst maintaining 2m seperation, and opperational problems in running a beer festival whilst maintaining social distancing, it has been decided to postpone the North Weald Festival until 2021. We look forward to seeing you all there then.
Branch meetings and trips Again these are all on hold. There will be no branch meeting in April, May, June and July. We will decide later about the meeting in August. Trips are all postponed until further notice.
